How to Manage Your New Account

This is my first attempt at creating a guide, so please be merciful and post any suggestions you believe I may have missed or am incorrect about.

I'd like to note that this guide may not necessarily be in the order that the events will occur. Only you can decide how you want to play, but I hope you take this guide to heart, as it can save you from ending up with an unusable account.

Starting

So you've made your shiny new account. You're ready to play. But there are some things you need to be careful about if you want your experience to last. Sure you're safe for a while, since you have a 10 hour gun, sword, and skill, but you must keep in mind that if you are ever without at least 1 weapon and 1 skill, you cannot play. Managing your money wisely will make sure you can keep playing long after these weapons have expired, and I'm going to teach you a good way to do it.

First off, go ahead and play. Enjoy the game. You have 10 hours after all. You'll most likely wish to choose the beginner channel, so that you can play with others who don't have much experience. While choosing to go to the free channel because "you'll learn faster" may seem like the better choice, it's actually quite the opposite. If you don't learn the basics of this game first, you'll have no chance at learning, let alone countering the various jumps and tricks you'll encounter on the free channel. After all, this is where almost all of the pros play. Not only will you more than likely not have a very pleasant time, but you'll also annoy your team if you're incapable of helping. Taking it slowly is fine.

Missions

A good thing to do as early as possible is to complete your missions. These are shown when you click the M button on the top right when you're in the lobby. These are a good way to get money, which you will need fairly soon. You'll start with basic missions: The ones that everyone gets when they start. They should be relatively easy to complete, and will be diverse enough to give you a good feel of this game. Some of them aren't very descriptive, however. For example, "avoid by fainting." What the hell does this mean? It actually means that you need to get stunned by either a plasma sword jump attack, being affected by the counter sword's revenge, or being smashed over the head with the storm bat (you have to be quick with this last one, as your window of opportunity for completing the mission is very small). While you are stunned, you must side dodge out of the way. This will require a very large amount of SP to do so (almost a full meter), so if you're low, don't be surprised if it doesn't work. When you get to TD/DM playing game missions, just playing isn't enough. You must be there the entire time, which means that you must have hit the Ready button while the game is still in Waiting mode. After this, it is also required that the game ends with at least 5 players on each team, and that the game was at least 20 minutes long.

Once you have finished these basic missions, you will be able to take part in weekly missions. These are randomized for everyone, and have a broad range of requirements from winning games, scoring goals, to killing with a certain weapon. It should also be noted that if you have not licensed a weapon yet, simply doing this may be one of your weekly missions. It's very easy to accomplish, yields you a new weapon to try out, and gets you the amount of money assigned to that mission.

Money

As you level, you should notice you're getting a pretty good amount of money per level. An important thing to realize however, is that this will not last. The amount of experience needed to level becomes quite a bit higher at a fairly fast pace, and the amount of money you earn per level will also lessen over time, from 5,000 to 2,000. You should not count on this for very long. So what can you do? The mission advice I just listed will help greatly. Finishing all of your weekly missions will yield you roughly 10,000 pen per week, on top of the amount of money you gain from playing the games. But this isn't always enough, depending on your actions. It'll take a good amount of playing time to earn enough money for all these fancy skills and weapons, so it's important to manage yourself so you're not losing all of the money you're making.

Priorities For a Successful Account

The first priority you pretty much must make is saving enough money so that you can own a permanent version of 1 weapon and 1 skill. You cannot play without these. So if your money runs out, and you don't have them, your account is dead. Licensing the other weapons and skills will give you more time to earn money, as well as helping you figure out what you'd like to purchase when the time comes. It should also be noted that if you want to play sword only mode, you must have 1 melee weapon (Plasma Sword, Counter Sword, or Storm Bat) as well as either the HP+ or SP+ skill. If this is a mode you want to play, HP+ or SP+ will probably be the first skill you'll want to obtain. Before you move on to anything else, I highly suggest you own one permanent gun, one permanent melee weapon, and one permanent skill. It will cost you a little money to maintain these after every match, but it is really a low cost, and not worth much concern.

Now onto a less happy note. One of the two biggest causes of doomed accounts is excessive clothing purchases. Clothing is damaged as you wear it into games, and it all has a repair cost, currently 13% or the original price when they fully wear out. This doesn't seem like much at first, but it adds up very fast. I understand the desire to customize your character, but not all of it is necessary. If you really want to, I suggest only getting either 1 shirt, or 1 skirt/pants. For double the shop price (and double the repair price), you can also add stats to this garment. The shirt will boost your power with specific weapons (make sure it's one you intend to use if you do this), and the skirt/pants will give you additional defense against either guns, swords, or sniping weapons. This will be more expensive for you, so I suggest avoiding this at the very start, but you CAN survive as long as you make sure you only do this once. This'll make the character more of your own, you'll have helpful stat boosts for game playing, and it shouldn't hurt your wallet too much to maintain them. However I'd really suggest not buying this piece of clothing until level 6 or so, where you'll have enough money to survive if you do so.

The second cause of doomed accounts is the fumbi shop. It is a shop where you can gamble for colored clothing or weapons with possibly higher stats. I cannot stress this enough: AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. A different colored weapon may be tempting, but this is a colossal money-sink. The amount of money you must pay is incredibly high, and the odds of getting a permanent version are unbelievably low. It's been said to be a 1 in 50 chance, but from personal experience I'd say the chance is much lower. Even if that chance is right, this means it will be an average of 150k pen to get one permanent weapon. Absolutely avoid this like the plague until you have everything else you want.

The Most Important Part

Beyond all of the worries of pen management, you also make sure you accomplish one other thing: Having fun. This is a game, after all. Play how you want, learn what you can, and become a total pro in the ways that you want to be. While it may be frustrating to follow my tips to ensure the longevity of your account, it shouldn't take very long to accomplish all of this, and it will pay off in the end, as you'll have a healthy account that you can play with whenever you want without having to worry. There are still many more aspects to this game I haven't covered, so now you'll have plenty of time to explore them.

I guess this is the part of most guides where they say "Get out there and Show me your S4!", but I don't really want to do that, so I'm just going to end it with this. DEAL WITH IT.
